Tally ERP 9 is the most preferred software that allows you to customize its module according to your business necessities. As we all know that a coin has 2 sides, same applies for a world preferred accounting software like Tally. Here are some pointers as to why one should not use Tally.ERP 9;

Voucher Entry: As we all know that Tally has a unique voucher entry system that helps accountants to operate on different vouchers with ease. So, if you do not want a quick and easy voucher entry system, then it is advised not to use Tally.ERP 9.

Ledger Integration: Tally software has the capacity for Integration of Ledgers like General ledger, Purchase ledger and Sales ledger into a single ledger. You may also use combined ledgers for different GST rates and TDS rates and get breakup in the reports reducing the clutter in the chart of accounts. You may also use the sub-ledger concept in the trial balance report to make it more compact. If you think that these great features are not for you do not use Tally.

Individual Bill Tracking: The software assists in the tracking of various bills both for trading as well as non-trading accounts based on the user choice. Thus, you may use bill wise tracking not only for customers and vendors but also for provisions, advances, deposits, etc. This can greatly reduce the effort in tracking the breakup of balance sheet items like provisions. If you feel that you want to maintain these details in spreadsheets and spend additional effort then tally is not the software for you.

Budget and Audit: Tally has unique features for budgeting, variance analysis and audit. If you wish to avail manual budget reports, you should not use Tally.ERP 9, as it makes tracking and analysiseasy.

Multi-Currency Facility: Many organizations are involved in International Trade and thus deal with multi-currencies. They also need to track Forex gains and losses. If you do not have multiple currencies or if you still want to maintain your accounts in a single currency and do the rigors of forex calculations manually outside the system then you may consider not using Tally.

Multi Location Feature: Tally can be installed across different locations and data synced to the Head Office using the Tally Sync feature. This does not need internet connectivity all the time and can still make branches function with ease with the availability of data in the Head Office. If you want to do this manually or rely on software which need internet all the time then Tally is not the software for you.

Reporting: Tally has some unique reporting features with drill down to the transaction level. The reports are easy to understand and use and cover a wide spectrum of business requirements. If you feel that you need complicated reports without drill down features and spend time with reports in Excel then you may consider not using Tally.

Remote Access: Tally comes with state-of-the-art technology that allows its users with remote facility, where one can access the system from elsewhere. So if you do not want to be in touch with your ERP when out of office or operate remote locations Tally is not the right ERP for you.
