Both TallyPrime and Tally.ERP 9 provide comprehensive tools for managing and analyzing sales information through the Sales Register. This guide will help you navigate and utilize the Sales Register in both software versions effectively.

Viewing the Sales Register in TallyPrime

  1. Accessing the Sales Register:
    • Press Alt+G (Go To)> type or select Sales Register.
    • Alternatively, go to Gateway of Tally > Display More Reports > Account Books > Sales Register.
  2. Customizing the Period:
    • Press F2 (Period) to set the reporting period as required to analyze periodic sales.
    • Press Ctrl+H (Change View) to select the periodic view, such as daily, weekly, fortnightly, or monthly.
  3. Changing the Voucher Type:
    • Press F4 (Voucher Type) to switch between different registers, e.g., from Sales Register to Material Out register.
  4. Configuring the Report:
    • Press F12 (Configuration) to customize the report with details like percentages, averages, closing balances, and periodicity.
    • To view sales vouchers for a specific month, scroll to the month and press Enter.

Columnar Sales Register

  1. Generating Columnar Reports:
    • In the Sales Register, press F8 (Columnar) to open the Columnar Register Alteration screen.
    • Configure the screen with details such as party’s address, voucher type, and other required columns.
  2. Column Types:
    • All items (automatic columns): Each ledger account is displayed in a separate column.
    • All items (in one column): All ledger accounts are displayed in a single column.
    • Group: Select a group of ledger accounts, such as Sales accounts, to be displayed together.
    • Related Items: Shows all ledger accounts used in a voucher, similar to “All items (automatic columns)”.

Viewing and Extracting Sales Data

  1. Viewing Extract of Sales Register:
    • In the Sales Register for any selected month, press Alt+F8 (Extract) to view the sales voucher register with extract.
    • Press Alt+F5 (Detailed) for an expanded view of the report.
    • To view an inventory-wise extract, press F12 (Configure) and set Show Inventory-Wise Extract to Yes.
  2. Viewing Sales Register with Profitability:
    • In the Sales Register for any selected month, press F7 (Show Profit) to view profitability.
    • Alternatively, enable Show Gross Profit Estimates in F12 (Configuration).
    • The report displays Transaction Value, Gross Revenue, Cost, and Gross Profit.
  3. Matching Gross Profit:
    • To match the Gross Profit in the Sales Register with Stock Summary and Profit & Loss A/c, enable Show Cost based on Stock Valuation in the F12 (Configure) screen.

Exporting Sales Register for Pivot Tables

  1. Exporting the Sales Register:
    • From the Sales Voucher Register screen, click E: Export or press Alt+E to open the Exporting Sales Register screen.
    • Select Excel (Spreadsheet) under the format options and configure as needed.
    • Set Yes to the option Export for Pivot Table.
  2. Generating Pivot Table:
    • Open the exported file in Excel and create a Pivot Table.
    • Set the Report Filter, Row Labels, Column Labels, and Values based on your requirements to generate a customized report.

Comparative Sales Register

  1. Comparing Sales Data:
    • On the Sales Register screen, press Alt+C (New Column) to add a new column for comparison.
    • Fill in the Column Details as required and press Enter.
  2. Creating Auto Columns:
    • Press Alt+N (Auto Column) to create columns automatically based on selected periods like daily, monthly, or quarterly.
    • Configure the Auto Repeat Columns screen and press Enter.
